You can ask completely general questions in misc.misc.
And they will never answered, since the last answer is from 2023.
But when was the last question asked??
============
It seems that Usenet is shrinking ...meaning less and less participation
throughout the domain ....possibly because there are now many dedicated
forums for many topics ....but I keep checking.

I find many of my old friends on Quora.
Some went to try out Mastodon, but the interaction model is not quite
right. Recently many former Twitter users are trying out BlueSky
(bsky.com), which is a more open system (like Mastodon) but with a
Twitter-like user interaction model.

But for its topic, nothing seems better than alt.folklore.computers.

So here we are.

For me, Quora has gone from being a place for useful questions to
answers to a place where many conspiracy theorists and nuts hang out.

I found a few interesting discussions on Quora, but the sight of
that button marked "Do not sell my data" turned me off. All you'd
have to do is just once forget to click that button, and they've
got you. So although I might occasionally read it, I'd never
consider posting.

With Quora, the trick is to find a dozen good writers to follow,
such as Mats Anderson, Franklin Veaux, Roland Bartezko or Ron Wagner.

For me, the primary value is good (true) stories drawn from the life
experiences of very diverse people.

I agree with all of these. In addition, Kristin Sunderlin, Matt Riggsby,
and Feifei Wang are well worth reading.

Plenty of them on Usenet, too! Cross-posting like crazy!
