All this rubbish about sustaiable energy.
I remember well the oil crises of the 1970's when we were in trouble
about oil supplies. A local(Irish) newspaper had a cartoon proposing
that oil be made from local peat. The only problem was that it would
take 2.5 gallons of real oil to make a gallon of synthetic!..
At the present time the british government is feuling the big power
station in Yorkshire with Biomass (crap trees) shipped from the US and
even Australia. Not sustainable at all, but good for the people who own
the forests.
Micheal Moore produced a program about this, and he was in danger of
being lynched.
Fuel oil and gas are going to run out at some time, that is the real
problem. We should limiit the amount of cars owned by people who live
in cities, they have alternatives.
The prooblem is going to be worse in Europe, where there are heavy
taxes on oil for cars, of all sorts, when most cars are electric, where
are governments going to get that money from?..
How long did the synthetic fuel suppliers last in Germany after the war
was over?..
