8Gb! requires a PC that once ran W8?! - use tinycore linux!
(Crazily bloating - used to be 10M, now 17M, or 23M for GUI, or 248M for
offline apps)

For old computers installing Alpine with XFCE is not a daunting task.
There's a setup-xorg script plus setup-alpine-desktop (or setup-xfce
I can't remember) which once you set up some quirks you
can get a fully working desktop.
Get the extended i686 installer or the amd64 one, it has the
wireless drivers.
